Are Aliens Waiting for the Right Time to Message Earth?

Aliens might be waiting for the perfect moment to send out intelligent signals in an attempt to communicate with us.

There are two ways we can discover intelligent alien life. One is through alien signals from distant star systems, and the second is by discovering physical alien technology, such as defunct alien trash or automated AI probes. These are the two os-likely ways of discovering intelligent alien life. Scientists have long searched for alien signals, hoping to one day intercept a message from our cosmic neighbors. To this date, we haven’t found a single one. This is with the exception of the Wow! signal, whose origin is still debatable, although not conclusive proof of intelligent alien life. A new study attempted a novel method of finding alien signals. Scientists focused on hunting for alien signals in combination with planetary transits. This is when exoplanets pass in front of their star. Through this method, thousands of planets in our galaxy have been found by astronomers.

Hunting for alien signals

Now, astronomers are taking advantage of this method, but not to find planets, but rather potential alien signals. Astronomers say that these moments can offer the best opportunity for intelligent alien civilizations to send out a signal into deep space in an attempt to contact other intelligent life forms. Speaking to LiveScience, study leader Sofia Sheikh from SETI explained that “this strategy helps us narrow down the huge question of where and when to look for a message in the vast reaches of space.”

The ongoing search for alien signals

So far, astronomers have only scanned a handful of alien worlds, in an attempt to discover an alien signal. And while they did not discover anything so far, they plan to continue their search in the near future, making use of different telescopes. Humans have attempted to communicate with intelligent alien civilizations in the bast. The most famous attempt is the Arecibo Message from 1974. And while we didn’t get a reply, this does not mean there is no one out there. Our galaxy is a massive place. With this in mind, astronomers need to refine their methods in an attempt to find a signal. Future telescopes will certainly help us out in our search for intelligent alien civilizations.
