Despite demands, the Navy remains tight-lipped on sharing the footage with the public.
The US Navy recently confirmed that they possess classified footage showcasing Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs) having hair-raising close brushes with aircraft. This revelation follows the 2021 report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) which highlighted 11 instances where pilots faced these “near collisions” with unexplained aerial objects.
Seeking Disclosure
In pursuit of transparency, The Black Vault website submitted multiple FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) requests, aiming to declassify any pertinent photographic, instrumental, or film records of these enigmatic encounters. They sought this through a Mandatory Declassification Review (MDR) – the standard procedure by which the government evaluates the release of classified documents to the public.
John Greenewald, the person at the helm of The Black Vault, expressed disappointment when the MDR came back empty-handed. The sought-after images remain strictly classified in all considerations.
It’s not fully clear if all 11 documented near-collisions have associated footage, or if only select incidents were captured on film. Should these images ever see the light of day, they promise a vivid representation of the described encounters – potentially stirring up more excitement than the infamous videos the New York Times exposed in 2017.
