The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the most recognizable and iconic structures in the world. Located in Egypt, the pyramid is believed to have been constructed over 4,500 years ago during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu. The pyramid was built as a tomb for the pharaoh and contains numerous chambers and passageways designed to protect his body and belongings in the afterlife.

Recently, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced an exciting discovery inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. For the first time ever, a long corridor was found on the north side of the ancient wonder. Measuring about 30 feet long by 6 feet wide, the corridor rises above the main entrance of the structure and was detected by a scanner.

The function of the chamber is currently unknown, but it’s possible that this discovery could lead to new archaeological discoveries. Corridors like this could lead to previously undiscovered chambers and passages within the pyramid. This discovery highlights the importance of continued research and exploration of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

The discovery was made by the Scan Pyramids project, an international initiative launched in 2015 to better understand the structure and its construction processes and techniques. The project combines various non-invasive and non-destructive techniques, including infrared thermography, muon tomography, 3D simulation, and reconstruction techniques.

In addition to the initial discovery, further radar and ultrasound tests were carried out before inserting a small scope through a small seam between the stones that form the chevrons. The camera footage revealed an empty corridor with walls made of roughly hewn stone blocks and a vaulted stone ceiling.

This discovery adds another piece to the puzzle of the Great Pyramid of Giza and showcases the importance of continued research and exploration. The use of advanced technologies and techniques like those employed by the Scan Pyramids project will allow archaeologists and researchers to explore the pyramid in ways that were not possible before. As the project continues, it’s likely that even more secrets will be revealed about this incredible monument from ancient times.

In 2017, the ScanPyramids team utilized cosmic ray muons to discover a large void above the Grand Gallery of the Khufu Pyramid. During this time, the team also examined the area surrounding the chevron on the pyramid’s north face.
