A mysterious ancient structure has been unearthed by archaeologists in Turkey, a land of a “million” ancient wonders. According to recent archeological excavations, experts have unearthed what appears to be a mysterious structure that resembles what some believe looks like the typical depiction of a flying saucer or UFO. The enigmatic ancient structure is believed to be just the tip of the “iceberg.” Archeologists believe that much of the original structure may still remain buried beneath the surface. The excavations have awakened excitement among experts. Some believe they may have discovered an ancient lost city belonging to the Hittites called Zippalanda. The discovery of the strange structure was made in north-central Turkey at a site called Uşaklı Höyük.

A circular structure

According to experts, they have likely unearthed what is believed to be the ancient city’s main temple. But the exact interpretation, according to archeologst, is difficult at the moment. Additional excavations will be needed to figure out what is beneath the surface and what they just uncovered. Nonetheless, according to Professor Anacleto D’Agostino, a researcher from the University of Pisa, based on what has been found so far, the structure is likely a place where rituals were performed. Furthermore, the experts say that no similar structures have been documented in contemporary sites.

Zippalanda, is that you?

Zippalanda was of great importance because it was one of the ancient Hattic religious structures that retained its privileges even during the Old Kingdom. The city grows in importance because of the Weather god of Zippalanda, who was one of the most important deities of the Hittites. If scientists confirm that the ancient site in Turkey is indeed Zippalanda, it would be a stunning discovery. This is because the Hittites were one of the most powerful and influential ancient civilizations that occupied parts of what is now Anatolia in Turkey. The Hittites are known to have been a great rival to the ancient Egyptian Kingdom.
