Stephen Hawking died four years ago–the thought of him, in ten sentences and quotes

The famous English theoretical physicist, astrophysicist, cosmologist, and science popularizer Stephen Hawking passed away on March 14, 2018, at the age of 76 in Cambridge (England). He lived to the age of 76.

The author of ‘A Brief History of Time’ and one of the world’s top ten most intelligent people, with an IQ of 160, held the same chair of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge between 1979 and 2009 (Lucasian professorship of mathematics) just as Sir Isaac Newton did.

His most significant contributions were his theories about space-time singularities based on general relativity, together with Roger Penrose. He also predicted that black holes would emit radiation, known today as Hawking Radiation.

Hawking’s work focused primarily on the physics of black holes and general relativity.

Several objects, comprising up to a billion tons of mass but occupying only a proton’s volume, may have formed following the big bang, he proposed in 1971.

Mini black holes are unique because their mass and gravity make them subject to general relativity, and their miniature size means they should also obey quantum mechanics.

Among many of his reflections, we have selected ten that can be considered to be precise summaries of his contemplation of the world and universe. Through these quotes and sentences, we can understand the type of genius Professor Hawking was, but more importantly, these quotes allow us to delve into his mind and see the world as he did.

Ten sentences about Stephen Hawking–the memory of him four years after he died.

“Quiet people have the loudest minds.” ― Stephen Hawking

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.” ― Stephen Hawking

“The universe doesn’t allow perfection.” ― Stephen Hawking, a quote from his book A Brief History of Time.

“My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all.” ― Stephen Hawking

“If time travel is possible, where are the tourists from the future?” ― Stephen Hawking, a quote from his book, A Brief History of Time

“Not only does God play dice but… he sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen.” ― Stephen Hawking

“The thing about smart people is that they seem like crazy people to dumb people.” ― Stephen Hawking

“I don’t think the human race will survive the next thousand years unless we spread into space.” ― Stephen Hawking

“Nothing is better than reading and gaining more and more knowledge.” ― Stephen Hawking
